Step Three: The Fruits Of The Spirit

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.” Galatians 5:22-26 KJV

This lesson is short and sweet. If you are allowing God into your heart and mind, there will be evidence of His working in your life. This evidence will be portrayed as the “fruits of the Holy Spirit” which are listed above. His working in your life will transform you little by little to match the description above. If you do not see the working of the Holy Spirit in your life, ask yourself if you are holding back in some way, refusing to allow Him full dominion in your life. If Christ is living out His life in you, there will be much fruit.

Sometimes we have strongholds in our lives that the devil has put there. These are things that are bad for us but are incredibly hard for us to have victory over. These strongholds may require extra prayer and commitment, extra patience, and even fasting to overcome. Sometimes seeking advice and prayer from trusted others helps us overcome these strongholds in our lives. Also claiming scripture that we can recite out loud whenever we are tempted can help us fight with the literal word of God. There is power in the word of God. Put on the full armor of God to fight against the wiles of the devil and you will have victory!

“Finally, my brethern, be strong in the LORD, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rules of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” Ephesians 6:10-18 KJV
